When you realize that you are one of the infertile ones, you need to learn the fertility abbreviations, otherwise you will be lost when chatting with other infertile ones.  These are some of the abbreviations that I have learned about, based on my experience.

2WW=Two-week wait

AF=Aunt Flo (your period)

AH=Assisted hatching

AI=Artificial insemination

ART=Assisted reproductive technique

BBT=Basal body temperature

BCP=Birth control pills

BFN=Big fat negative

BFP=Big fat positive   …..this one I have only read about : (

EC= Egg collection

ET=Embryo transfer

HCG=Human chorionic gonadotropin

HPT=Home pregnancy test

HSC=Hysteroscopy

HSG=Hysterosalpinogram

ICSI=Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection

IUI=Intra-uterine insemination   ….. tried 3 times

IVF=In vitro fertilization    …..tried 3 times

OV=Ovulation

PMS=Pre-menstrual syndrome

SA=Sperm analysis

TTC=Trying to conceive

US=Ultrasound    …… too many to count
